- Fishing for Walleye in Temagami Area Lakes
Walleye Fishing in Temagami - The most
sought after fish at Ridgewood Cottage Resort area lakes is the walleye also
known as pickerel in Canada. The flaky meat of the walleye makes it the most
sought after shorelunch fish in the northern Ontario lakes. Nothing compares to
these fresh fish during a typical shorelunch. Temagami Lakes offers some of the
best walleye fishing in Canada.
Many of our anglers prefer to fish the
walleye at night in Angus Lake (our home lake). There is no question that the
big ones will swim into the shallows at night to feed. This doesn't mean that
you can't catch walleyes during the day. Some of the best Temagami fishing of
the year can be enjoyed in the middle of the day on our Temagami lakes, with
the bait ranging from minnows and leeches to night crawlers.
Some of our walleye fisherman go into our
back lakes of Temagami for some great walleye and pike fishing action. We have
four back lakes for our guest to enjoy. Our
local bait shops will be able to help you with advice on
bait and locations.
Gramps Place Temagami Fishing Bait and Tackle is just 3
minutes from our resort.
The most sought-after species in the
province. Why? Because they're fun to catch and great to eat! From the pristine
wilderness waters of northern Ontario to reservoirs in the south or even the
Great Lakes - good walleye fishing is just around the corner. In a typical
year, more than 8 million walleye are caught in Ontario. The average size of
our walleye is a couple of pounds however 4 - 5 pounders are available almost
anywhere you wet a line. Some water bodies consistently yield trophies over 10
pounds and a few lakes even produce the occasional monster nearing 20 pounds!
Arguably the tastiest freshwater fish in North America; fresh golden walleye
filets go hand-in-hand with an Ontario fishing experience.
Walleye Ontario Record 22.25 lbs.
